I look forward to supporting our drama program!

I. Workshop Support

Administrative Support
Activities primarily include student registration, photocopying and distribution at the school, occasional telephone coordination with parents, and occasional liaison with school administration. During play rehearsals, this person may also be interested in the role of "Producer" (see below).

Workshop Instructor
If you have any theatre experience and would like to lead a workshop topic, just let us know! If you can share with us aspects such as voice, movement, acting methods, production, directing, etc. then the kids would like to learn from you!

Workshop Assistant
There are two types of assistants:

1. Assistants are needed to receive students at their school and escort them as a group to the workshop location.

2. Assistants may support the Workshop instructor. Involvement can be as simple as helping to "manage traffic" or Assistants are welcome to "take charge" with particular activities and proactively lead smaller groups. We try to schedule assistants on a weekly rotational basis to balance time commitments.  (But some parents elect to come every week anyways because it's just too much fun!)

II. Play Production Support

Director
The Director usually selects the play of their choice to mount and "makes it happen". The director casts the play, conducts scene rehearsals with the actors, and is the creative director for all technical aspects including set design, sound, lights, etc. Individuals interested in directing are strongly encouraged to first obtain production experience in one of the other roles.

Stage Manager
The stage manager attends all rehearsals and becomes intimately acquainted with the show. During performance, the stage manager "calls the show" which means it is this individual who decides when the curtain goes up, when sound and light queues should occur, etc. During performances, the stage manager is the boss!

Set Design / Construction
Set Design makes sure our actors have a set upon which to tell their story. Our sets can be as simple as a few boxes on stage or as elaborate as this person envisions! Construction folks help us build things that we may need like additional flats or risers.

Costume / Sewing
Our actors will need to be clothed in manners consistent with the play and their individual characters. Often this is a matter of rummaging through closets while other time it may involve some sewing if the requirement is unique. The odd time you may be required during the day depending on other resources available to have fittings with the actors.

Producer
The producer looks after the administrative aspects of mounting a production. This includes managing the budget, liaising with various roles to ensure timelines are being met, and liaising with school administration to ensure policies and procedures are being correctly followed.

Properties
This person identifies all the props the actors will use in the play and sets out to find them! You will interface with either the director, producer, or stage manager as rehearsals progress.

Sound & Light
Our tech folks are responsible for sourcing the sound and lighting needed, helping to set it up at performance time, and running the queues during the performance. It's a lot of fun because you get to see the show and experience first-hand how your sound/lights augment the mood of the scene! Some daytime activity occurs during performance week.
